Perisher is located in the picturesque Kosciuszko National Park which is home to Australia’s highest peak Mt. Kosciuszko. Perisher boasts an incredible 47 lifts accessing an immense 1,245 hectares of varied snow-covered terrain, and has four resort areas Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow and Guthega to make it the Southern Hemisphere’s largest resort. Perisher has terrain that will suit all abilities whether you are a first timer to the snow or an advanced rider.

The village in Perisher Valley sits above the recognized snowline at 1720m, which makes Perisher renowned for offering a true on-snow experience, with consistent top to bottom riding more often and more reliably. When Mother Nature takes a break, Perisher’s vast, multi-million dollar snow-making network, that consists of 271 snow guns and covers 54 hectares of varied terrain.

Perisher in the Green Season –

Why not visit in the summer months too? Perisher is home to a variety of great riding experiences on some of the highest mountain terrain in Australia. From an easy 4km ride around the village to the challenging 20km return from Perisher to Charlotte Pass, there is something for everyone. Unlike other resorts, Perisher do not offer lift access for Mountain Bikes in Summer, so challenge yourself and see how far you can get using your own pedal power! If biking is not your thing, why not try one of the easy walking trails Perisher has to offer. You will be amazed at the spectacular views and the unique vegetation you will see along the way.

During the weekdays, you can purchase lunches, drinks and snacks in Perisher Valley or cruise over to Guthega where the Guthega Alpine Hotel is open from 11am to 6pm with lunch from noon to 3pm (closed Tuesday and Wednesday)

Activities and Events –

Perisher Resort is a hive of activity throughout winter with activities and events both on and off the snow from neon night-skiing, pond skimming competitions to music festivals. There is something to keep the whole family happy!

Perisher is also home to the Skitube - Alpine Railway. Perisher's Skitube is a Swiss designed rack-rail train that takes passengers from Bullocks Flat on the Alpine Way through a tunnel in the Ramshead Range to the Perisher Resort. The first stop is the underground station at Perisher Valley and then continues on to Blue Cow through another tunnel through the Perisher Range. This tunnel is Australia's longest transport tunnel at 6.3km long, and at its deepest point it is 550m below the surface.

Getting there-

  • DRIVE – Perisher is located around 2.5 hour drive from Canberra, 6 hours from Sydney and 1 hour from Jindabyne.

  • BUS – There are several services that run passenger buses from Sydney, Canberra and Jindabyne.
